- Entiring into the national phase in Japan
<TIME LIMIT FOR SUBMITTING NATIONAL DOCUMENTS>
For entering into the national phase in Japan, applicant must submit a special transmittal form (Form No. 53) and Japanese translations of description, claims, and drawings and abstract of PCT international application to Japan Patent Office within 30 months from the priority date.
<SPECIAL TIME LIMIT FOR SUBMITTING TRANSLATIONS >
Applicant may submit the translations within two months from the date of submitting Form No. 53, if applicant submits Form 53 two months prior to the expiration of the "time limit for submitting national documents", i.e., between 28 to 30 months from the priority date.

The official fee is required to enter into the national phase in Japan.
This fee is 15,000 JPY(Fee for utility model applin is 14,000 JPY).

- A) Performing the same procedure as the procedure required of the Japanese.
Applicant must file the application documents in Japanese language(Japanese Language Application) to the Japan Patent Office(JPO).
Desiring to declare a priority claim under the Paris Convention, applicant shall submit to the JPO a document setting forth a statement to that effect and specifying the country party to the Paris Convention in which the application was first filed, as well as the filing date of such application.
Having declared a priority claim, applicant must submit a priority document to the JPO within 16 months from the filing date.
The official fee required to filie the application in Japan is 15,000 JPY(Fee for utility model applin is 14,000 JPY).
B) Foreign Language File Application
Applicant may file a patent application documents written in a foreign language (English language) to the JPO.
The application is received as a regular national application and the date of receipt is accorded as the filing date.
Applicant is required to submit a Japanese translation within 14 months from the priority date.
The official fee required to filie the Foreign Language File Application in Japan is 24,000 JPY. - PPROCEDURES AFTER FILING THE PATENT APPLICATION
- After filing the patent application to the Japan Patent Office,
in order to obtain a patent right, applicant must go through examinations to determine whether the application fulfills all the necessary requirements.
